vespa.
Description
“Vespa.” Is surely one of my favorite shots. Seeing it parked on the side road, in a seaside town, takes me as a child again. We are from millennials generation and in Italy we grew up with the icon of the vespa as a symbol of freedom. The same freedom that was felt on Sunday without the obligation of the school at that time, of work today.
Nowadays, some people look at a vespa and see an obsolete vehicle, yes is true. Other people see its historical and therefore its economic value, yes is true too.
I see my childhood. Maybe, even for this reason that I can’t go over without to think whether the owner knows that it is sitting its buttocks on a piece of history of many people as me.
If you are a vespa owner, take extra care, please.

Rust
Description
If I had seen a building like that when I was child, due to my very curious nature, I would certainly have looked for a hidden entrance to discover what is hidden inside a deserted hotel.
Now I am an adult, at least according to the age, and looking at it I see a set of clean lines and contrasting colors that make me think of a real piece of architectural design, now put aside.
Ah, yes! I didn’t come inside just because I didn’t find a way to do it.

urban SHARK
Description
A shark’s fin. This is the first image I thought of looking at the detail of this sheet metal roof in a construction site that was opened for the building of a new hotel in a place where there was a small park with trees and flowers.
Or probably…
my mind, seeing how much cement is literally devouring the green areas, for a combination game, wanted me to find a detail that reminded me of a ferocious predator.
Wild yes, but certainly more “human” than the person who decided all this.

Failed
Description
This collection contains different attempts to exalt the color and to decrease the subject’s importance.
As you can surely see, the attempts have failed.
But why? Because it’s very difficult as the subject is a female part. On the contrary, everything around shifts into the background.
For example, some of you didn’t notice that they are two right feet and the same people returned to check if it’s true. Obviously I’m joking.
So, this is my failed and I created this collection such the proof. Change the color, saturation or contrast, but the matter remains the womanhood.
Those feet are from a woman that will be an enigma for you.

I don’t deny that I like to name my works with Italian words.
My origins are italian and I would like also to transmit them through my photos.
In past centuries, the Italian words “borgo” or “borghetto” were reserved for villages of a considerable importance which had a market and a fortification.
I was immediately struck by the roofs in raspberry tonality of red color which revise the reality of a modern city with over one hundred thousand people in an old medieval village.

When a man is particularly persecuted by bad luck in Italy, we say “the cloud of Fantozzi follows you”. And maybe this photo will be understood from the italian people of my generation, mainly.
Fantozzi was a TV figure impersonated by a great actor of my hometown, Paolo Villaggio, now deceased.
This was my first mind when I saw this image. I was on the beach for long time to waiting for something special to happen. I found my answer in that nice cloud and I thought to that famous actor who as children all emulated to be funny.

It’s very easy to verify my talent as a painter as it is pratically non-existent. I’m not very good to painting, it’s a truth.
Instead, it’s much more difficult to explain that it is a photo and not a painting. Exactly, this is a cropping of a photo which was horizontal before.
Sometimes, in front of landscapes quite large, I decide to shoot horizontally and then, once at home, I prefer to rotate it in vertically.
I do it, because, that was in front of me appeared so wonderful about its hugeness that I wanted to capture it as much as possible and later to search for my photo, once in the studio.

This is the Catedral de Santa Cruz de Cádiz, in Spain.
It is difficult to value, further, I mean, to something that already has an intrinsic worth. Instead, it is much easier to faithfully report reality, I wanted to dare.
This photo can be understood as a provocation not to seek beauty, harmony or pleasure, but to break the schemes and to play, just a little.
the real challenge for me, in this case, is not to alter the reality of a photo that portrays a subject of historical and cultural value, but to make it public with my signature.
If you don’t appreciate it, I understand you, I don’t love these affronts either.

Shades of blue

I was walking by the ocean, as were dozens of other people. I had my camera with me, very often I take it with me now.
Like everyone, my eyes were on the horizon that I know very well now, with the ocean painted in various shades of blue that steal your mind.
It will be because that is now very familiar, so instinctively I looked to the opposite side and I found “Shades of blue”: the absolute antagonist of that was on the other side at me. The orange colors, complementary to blue, the cement and iron materials, in contrast with the ocean.
I’m crazy, but for me this photo represents the ocean and its shades of blue that I didn’t shoot that day.

When I took this photo, I was looking for something very accurate and geometric that respected the simplest rules of photography.
I decided to go to a cathedral, places of Christian religion are always sources of great geometry and I always found subjects of great interest in them.
As I climbed his staircase, I found this incredible harmony of volume, materials and colors in front of my eyes, and my lens too.
Three raw materials of huge value that skilled sculptors use for their art, and I can discretely just snap.

This photo is the result of a “mistake”.
Indeed, I focused on the bright red of the sign that in the foreground compared to the white color of the building in the background created a very static and geometric effect.
But suddenly, as I was ready to shoot, this guy entered on stage with a branded lunchbox in his back.
I decided to still keep the photo, it represents a bit what happens now: globalization that willy-nilly, slips into our life like to dictate new rules, new practices.
At the time of editing, I preferred to give it a more pop tint so as to create a new time mix.
